2020 Ford Expedition new keys made in Cleveland OH
2020 Ford Expedition new keys made in Cleveland OH
Losing your only car key is never a good day. Maybe you locked it inside, or maybe the fob just stopped working. Either way, you need a real fix fast. That is the kind of call we love at Advanced Lock and Key. A customer over in Cleveland needed new keys made for their 2020 Ford Expedition, so we loaded the van and headed downtown near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
What We Did on This Job
The photos show the whole job start to finish. We plugged our programming tablet right into the OBD port under the dash. From there we ran the Add Keys and Program Keys steps. When the screen read Procedure Complete, the new Ford smart key was paired and ready to go. You can see the fresh proximity fob sitting in the cup holder in the last photo. The lock, unlock, remote start, and liftgate buttons all worked on the first press.
We do these Ford push to start keys all the time. Ford uses a smart key system, so the fob has to “talk” to the truck computer before it will start. A plain key blank wont cut it. It takes the right OEM type of fob, a Strattec chip, and a proper programming tool like our Autel unit to get the job done right.
Quick tip from the shop. Always keep a spare key made. If you already have two, adding a third later is fast and cheap. The fob runs on a small CR2450 coin battery, so if your range gets short, swap that battery first before you think the whole key is dead. A lot of folks toss a good fob when it just needed a fresh battery.
We are bonded and insured and a proud member of the Cuyahoga East Chamber of Commerce. Our shop sits at 3439 W Brainard Rd #105 in Woodmere, but we run mobile service all across Cuyahoga and Summit counties, from Ohio City and Tremont out to Shaker Heights and Akron. Locked out or need a spare Ford key. Give us a call and we will come to you.
